Going on vacation is an exciting time of the year for every family, but there’s always the question of what to do with your pets. Dog is, after all, man's best friend, so why shouldn't your dog be able to come with you? The answer is that he can, but there are some things to think about before taking the full family on your next trip.
How Does Your Pet React to Kennel Crates?
If you began crate training your dog at a young age, this is probably a non-issue, and if your dog is still young you might want to start crate training now. For those who have never placed their dog in a kennel, you should probably test how your dog reacts to a kennel and try to provide it with more time in a kennel in the month leading up to travel. This will greatly reduce your dog's anxiety during your trip.
Are You Going to Be Flying?
Airline companies have become much friendlier to pet travel, but each company has their own policies. Before you book a flight, be sure to inquire about these policies so you can choose the right company for you and your pet. Before boarding, walk your pet outside so it can have the most comfortable flight possible. Additionally, let the airline staff know that you have a dog aboard, so they can monitor your pet's safety.
